We held our AGM last Friday, the 24th November, and it too was a great success!  Following presentation of the Annual Accounts and our Trustees’ Report we heard from three speakers; a Home-Start volunteer, Kerry Porter, a supported mum, Songul Yildiz, and a referrer, health visitor Kerry Theodorou.

These three women all had poignant stories to tell from their different perspectives, stories about the real-life impact Home-Start Barnet has had on their lives and work (see videos below collage).  Kerry P started her Home-Start journey as an admin volunteer in our office, and described how she’s grown in confidence and ability, progressing to supporting other families, thanks to our training, people and attitudes. Songul told uys about the anguish she was in prior to first meeting her cooordinator and volunteer, and how she and her baby and little girl are now happier and more complete in themselves thanks to the sterling work we’ve done.  Our referrer, Kerry T told the gathering how, when she called us about a destitute family, our coordinators alerted friends and volunteers who – within two hours – had a car-load of donated food and baby goods which was just the boost this family needed to get them started towards recovery.

This is our twentieth year of serving families and their children in Barnet and Harrow, and we have certainly earned the right to celebrate!
