Volunteer with us
Volunteer at our family groups
Would you like to volunteer with us?
By helping out at our family group, you can support parents as they engage and play with their children in a safe, encouraging and inspiring environment.
What you’ll do
Our Activities Coordinator and group volunteers run regular stay‑and‑play groups for families with pre‑school‑aged children. If you have a genuine passion for supporting and encouraging positive parent–child relationships, we would love to hear from you.
No previous volunteering experience is required, although experience with children (as a parent, carer, or similar) would be beneficial. Most importantly, we’re looking for people with a can‑do attitude and a love of play and fun.
Volunteers are asked to support the delivery of sessions and assist with setting up and clearing away. You don’t need to be available for every session to get involved.
How you’ll help
Our families are often facing challenges that can mean finding time for simple play and fun can be hard. By volunteering at our group, you can create an environment for them where they can interact and have fun with their children and meet other parents from their local community. This can help them build their own network of friendships and support.
What you’ll get
Our volunteers often comment on how much value they get from the relationships they build with their families; they talk about how they get more than what they put in. It’s true that doing good for others makes us feel better!
You’ll receive comprehensive introductory training, providing you with the tools and confidence to work with our families.
And you will have ongoing support throughout your volunteer journey with us. This includes regular supervision, further training opportunities, and bi-monthly support meetings with the rest of the team.
“My daughter looks forward to the kids get together every Thursday. She has learned so much already. She’s learned to play with other kids by sharing the toys and sitting and eating with them. You have even encouraged her to start drinking milk and to eat fruits.”
